WEDNESDAY: SEASON 2 on Netflix gives us four new episodes, with part 1. You’ll only have to wait a month for part 2. This is very fortunate, as this first part ends on quite a cliffhanger. As someone who enjoyed season 1 of Wednesday, I’m happy to report that this is at least as good.

Everyone in the story is a bit older (and a few are in a mental hospital), and because we’re dealing with some very young actors, a few growth spurts have taken place. Again, this is hardly a problem for the quality of the show.

Returning to Nevermore Academy

As Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) returns to the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, so does the talk of Outcasts versus Normies. And in the world of this Netflix series, we’re all rooting for the outcasts with their imaginative and creative talents.

In this new season, foes and woes await Wednesday Addams… and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Wednesday’s roommate is still the sweet, bubbly, and very colorful werewolf, Enid (Emma Myers), who has her own struggles as she returns to Nevermore. For Wednesday, one mission becomes paramount as a vision shows her something she must stop.

Of course, her mother, the enigmatic Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), isn’t thrilled with Wednesday’s misuse of her talents. It’s a battle between mother and daughter, where Grandmamma (Joanna Lumley) will have to step in to assist.

As always, Wednesday is part dark comedy (especially thanks to the razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm of the title character), while other laugh-out-loud moments are also delivered by other characters. And, of course, we have monsters, horror, supernatural beings, and adventure.

Wednesday: Season 2 - Part 1 (2025) – Review | Netflix Series

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams is such a treat

Obviously, we know from season 1 that Jenna Ortega (Scream, X, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) is perfectly cast as Wednesday Addams in this Netflix series. In fact, let’s be honest, we knew Jenna Ortega would be perfect from the second that casting was announced.

And yes, the same goes for everyone else in the Addams Family, who return in Wednesday: Season 2. It’s such a treat to have them all in this Netflix show. Not only do they work wonderfully in their respective roles, but their interaction is also on point.

In every scene!

Without giving away any details that could spoil it for you, these are some of the guest stars you can look forward to in Wednesday Season 2 Part 1. All of them are talents known from iconic genre productions.

First up is Haley Joel Osment from the very first scene, almost. Also, you’ll get to enjoy the talents of Thandiwe Newton, Heather Matarazzo, Billie Piper, and Frances O’Connor.

Creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are back to ensure season 2 is as amazing as season 1. And yes, executive producer and director Tim Burton also returns. For Part 1 of Wednesday Season 2, he directs episodes 1 and 4.

Also, credit is, as always, due to Charles Addams, who created the characters of the Addams Family.

I very happily binge-watched part 1 of Season 2, and fully expect to do the same with Part 2 come September. Until then, these first four episodes of Wednesday: Season 2 have set a tone that works perfectly for the world of the Addams Family. Enjoy!

Wednesday: Season 2 Part 1 is out on Netflix on August 6, 2025.

Part 2, with the final four episodes of Season 2, comes out on September 3, 2025.

– I write reviews and recaps on Heaven of Horror. And yes, it does happen that I find myself screaming, when watching a good horror movie. I love psychological horror, survival horror and kick-ass women. Also, I have a huge soft spot for a good horror-comedy. Oh yeah, and I absolutely HATE when animals are harmed in movies, so I will immediately think less of any movie, where animals are harmed for entertainment (even if the animals are just really good actors). Fortunately, horror doesn't use this nearly as much as comedy. And people assume horror lovers are the messed up ones. Go figure!
