Dark Season 3 is coming in June 2020. Here’s the latest news about the Netflix series – release date, trailer, and much more. Check out the Dark season 3 trailer and release date information here!

Dark season 3 is on the way! And a release date has just been announced – more on that in just a sec.

Hint: The date was guessed in advance by many fans of the series since this particular date is key to the plot of Dark

First, please note that we’ll be updating this article when any news about Dark season 3 appears. In other words, be sure to bookmark this page.

Dark Netflix Renewal Status

Netflix officially renewed Dark for season 3 on May 20, 2019. Season 3 will be the final season since the Dark series was always meant to be a trilogy. Basically, the number three is key to most of the plot in Dark.

From the moment Dark premiered on Netflix, it attracted a huge audience that absolutely adored the complex time-travel sci-fi drama. Also, it’s very character-based, which is always the best way to keep an audience coming back.

After all, we need to know what happens to our favorite characters. And the villains of the story as well, obviously!

Dark Season 3 Release Date

The wait between season 1 and season 2 was a year and a half, but the wait is “only” one year for season 3.

Dark season 3 will be out on Netflix on June 27, 2020.

Need a resumé of season 2? And maybe some reminders or explanations along the way? Read our Dark Season 2 ending explained here >

Please note: The above link leads to lots and lots of spoilers for both season 1 and season 2 of Dark since it’s an “ending explained” piece.

Dark Season 3 trailer

The date reveal trailer for season 3 was released on May 26, 2020. But the first real trailer came out June 12, 2020. Watch the Dark season 3 trailer below!

Will there be a Dark Season 4?

Of course, fans of the Netflix series are already asking for Dark season 4, but there are no plans for a fourth season! This current series was always envisioned as a trilogy and it’s been working like a charm, so I certainly respect this plan from the creators.

To put it bluntly: Season 3 will be the last season of Dark as we know it now.

However, it is definitely possible that we’ll get remakes in other languages or perhaps alternative versions of some sort.

You never know!

Nobody wants to give up on a huge success, so hope is still alive for more seasons of Dark in some form.

If you still haven’t watched season 1 and season 2 of this amazing sci-fi series, then please do yourself a favor and watch them now. You still have time to watch the first two seasons before the release of the final season in the Dark series.

Read our season 1 review of Dark here >

And Dark season 2 review here >

In case you missed out on it; Yes, it is in German, but the subtitles work perfectly. Also, dubbing it really isn’t doing this series justice. The actors give brilliant portrayals, so if you can deal with subtitles, then please do that.

For your own sake!

Must-see South Korean Horror Movies and Thrillers! https://www.heavenofhorror.com/features/south-korean-horror-movies-thrillers/ https://www.heavenofhorror.com/features/south-korean-horror-movies-thrillers/#respond Thu, 09 Jan 2020 12:51:13 +0000 https://www.heavenofhorror.com/?p=1429 The post Must-see South Korean Horror Movies and Thrillers! appeared first on Heaven of Horror.

We’re major fans of South Korean horror movies and thrillers – they’re not afraid of using a lot of blood, and often the acting is top-notch. Below you’ll find a list of South Korean movies, we recommend.

Just making this list, I’m feeling an overwhelming desire to do a South Korean horror marathon immediately. Yes, these movies really are that good. They can be slow-burners, but don’t let that fool you; They always deliver!

And the production quality is completely on level with any well-produced US movie. So, let’s get to it, shall we? For the record, these are listed in random order.

Memoir of a Murderer

Original title: Salinjaui gieokbeob

Memoir of a Murderer is yet another absolutely brilliant movie to come out of South Korea. Intelligent, intense, heartbreaking, and bloody. Yet somehow equally full of life and death!

The Wailing

Original title: Gok-seong

The Wailing perfectly combines old superstitions and modern detective work – though mostly, it’s about fighting to protect the people you love.

Train to Busan

Original title: Busanhaeng

Train to Busan is a crazy train ride with zombies. It delivers on everything the trailer promised – and then some!

Read our review >

The Host

Original title: Gwoemul

The Host from 2006 is a fantastic movie with monsters, humor and action. This movie features the craziest family with characters that are flawed, selfish and realistic. In fact, the family members are as amazing as the special effects. Also, this movie has one of the most memorable funeral scenes I have ever seen along with the most reluctant – and often pretty unlikable – hero you’re likely to come across!

The Chaser

Original title: Chugyeogja

The Chaser is a Crime/Thriller from 2008 about a former cop turned pimp. Several of his girls are missing and it looks like they all had a last date with the same client.

Oldboy

Original title: Oldeuboi

Chan-wook Park is one of the big names in South Korean horror movies as well as being pretty well-known worldwide. He’s behind the trilogy Oldboy, Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance – all of which has or will get American remakes (Oldboy was already remade in 2013, which was unnecessary).

Oldboy is ultra-violent, intelligent and has a twist ending, and you really don’t want to be spoiled in advance. The original movie shows a live octopus getting devoured by the leading man (the actor ended up eating 3-4 octopie before the scene was done, and he’s a Buddhist vegetarian!) – but the American remake would not put the viewer through such a thing, so the scene was changed.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance

Original title: Boksuneun naui geot

A young man and his girlfriend kidnap a small girl to make quick cash, but it doesn’t end up the way they planned… Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is the first movie in Chan-wook Park’s trilogy, but I think it’s also the weakest of the three.

That doesn’t mean that it’s a bad movie in any way – so we can still recommend it. Kang-ho Song (The Host, Memories of Murders, Thirst) has a big role.

Lady Vengeance

Original title: Chinjeolhan geumjassi

The last movie in the Chan-wook Park trilogy (OldboyLady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance). It is certainly worth a watch – just be ready for an artistic movie, and you’re good to go. Charlize Theron has been in talks for the American remake.

I Saw the Devil

Original title: Akmareul boatda

Director Kim Jee-Woon (A Tale of Two Sisters) is behind this jewel about an agent who loses his pregnant fiancée to a crazed serial killer and decides to chase him on his own in search of revenge. Oh, and the villain is played by the leading man from Oldboy.

This movie delivers all the goods and is really one of the very best movies in South Korean horror! Hollywood has talked about a remake with Adam Wingard as director, but the project seems to be stalled.

Memories of Murder

Original title: Salinui chueok

Memories of Murder is based on a true story about a serial killer that ravaged South Korea in the 1980s. Directed and co-written by Academy Award-winning Bong Joon-ho (Parasite).

The movie follows the detectives that try to solve the case. They do everything they can to close the case – not concerned whether the imprisoned is guilty or innocent. Kang-ho Song (The Host, Thirst) has a big role.

Mother

Original title: Madeo

A mother desperately tries to find a killer who’s blaming her less fortunate son for the murder of a girl. From the same director, who gave us The Host and Snowpiercer.

The Yellow Sea

Original title: Hwanghae

The director of The Chaser has made another hit with The Yellow Sea about a taxi driver from Yanjo City (a region between North Korea, China, and Russia) whose wife goes to Korea to make some money. But he doesn’t hear from her in 6 months, so he starts to gamble, loses a lot of money and builds up a debt with the local gangster. He then meets a hitman who offers him to become debt free and reunited with his wife – all he has to do is help with a single murder…

Bedevilled

Original title: Kim Bok-nam salinsageonui jeonmal

A woman living on a small island is exposed daily to mental, psychological and sexual abuse from those closest to her. Then one day an old friend comes back to the island, and fortunately, she’s there with a plan to escape with her. It doesn’t exactly go as planned.

The movie is a bit of a slow starter, but hang in there, and you’ll get all the blood you want.

The Tower

Original title: Ta-weo

This is The Towering Inferno on crack! It’s Christmas Eve and a fantastic Christmas party is planned in the brand new luxury building with 108 floors. But when a fire starts, all Hell breaks loose.

A Tale of Two Sisters

Original title: Janghwa, Hongryeon

This movie has already been remade under the title The Uninvited (2009), but we always watch the originals that are usually better movies. Director Kim Jee-Woon (I Saw the Devil) has both written and directed the movie about a family haunted by the tragedies of deaths within the family.

The Housemaid

Original title: Hanyo

A man has an affair with the housemaid of the family with tragic consequences.

Thirst

Original title: Bakjwi

Kang-ho Song (The HostMemories of Murders, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) is once again the lead as the poor priest who after a failed medical experiment becomes a vampire. Naturally, this goes very much against his religion and his life changes in oh so many ways. Chan-wook Park (OldboyLady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) directed the movie.

First trailer for MIDSOMMAR is here! This is Ari “Hereditary” Aster’s next horror movie due out in theaters this August. Read all about the upcoming horror movie and watch the MIDSOMMAR trailer here!

Finally, the first trailer for the Midsommar is here! The upcoming horror movie is directed by Ari Aster, who horror fans know from last years horror hit Hereditary.

Recommended reading: Check out our review of Hereditary here >

Midsommar stars Jack Reynor, Florence Pugh, Will Poulter, Vilhem Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia, and Archie Madekwe.

This cast has both well-known faces and a few newer ones. All of them are probably actors you’ll get more familiar with in the coming years.

You may know Florence Pugh from the Netflix horror movie Malevolent. She’s quickly becoming a new favorite of ours so we expect nothing less than excellence from her!

Will Poulter was THIS close to becoming the new Pennywise in It Part 1. Poulter was ultimately replaced by Bill Skarsgård after director Cary Fukunaga quit the movie. Still, he does have that mischevious look that works perfectly within a horror narrative.

More on the next Ari Aster horror movie

Once again, Ari Aster is both the director and writer of his movie. Here’s some more on the plot:

Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor play a couple that travels to Sweden. They go there to visit the rural hometown of a friend for its fabled mid-summer festival. This is called “midsommar” in Swedish.

What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

Midsommar is scheduled to be released on August 9, 2019.
The horror movie is distributed by A24 who was also behind Ari Aster’s previous movie Hereditary.

Watch both the teaser trailer and the full trailer for Midsommar below.

The latter starred Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Carpenter, and Don Johnson. They are all back to work with Zahler for this new movie. Joining them for Dragged Across Concrete is Mel Gibson who stars alongside Vince Vaughn. These two are central to the plot.

Also on board for the ride are Michael Jai White, Udo Kier, Thomas Kretschmann, and Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead).

The first trailer for MA is here! The psychological horror movie stars Oscar® winner Octavia Spencer in the lead. Watch the MA trailer right here and check out the fierce poster for this Blumhouse horror movie!

The first trailer for MA is here. We’re pretty damn excited about the upcoming Blumhouse Horror Movie MA because it stars Octavia Spencer in the titular role!

Her character is named Sue Ann, which sounds very sweet and dainty, but she wants to be called “Ma”. And she’s anything but sweet and dainty.

MA is directed by Tate Taylor (The Girl on the Train) which also means yet another reunion for director Tate Taylor and actor Octavia Spencer. She’s been in most of his movies and he directed her Academy Award-winning performance in The Help.

The new horror movie is based on a story by Scotty Landes with the actual screenplay penned by both Scotty Landes and Tate Taylor.

MA will be out in US theaters on May 31, 2019. Watch the trailer for horror movie MA at the bottom of this page!

MA creator Scotty Landes

Scotty Landes most recently wrote several episodes of Who Is America? Also, he has written the “Rabid, Rabid Zombies” episode of the upcoming Netflix anthology series The Green Beret’s Guide to Surviving the Apocalypse.

The Green Beret’s Guide to Surviving the Apocalypse is very simply a Netflix show that will focus on world-ending scenarios. And, of course, one of them features zombies. Obviously!

These details alone are enough to make me very curious about this movie. And with the added bonus of Blumhouse, Tate Taylor and Octavia SpencerI cannot wait to watch MA

This first trailer for MA is definitely adding to my already high expectations!

The official synopsis for MA:

Oscar® winner Octavia Spencer stars as Sue Ann, a loner who keeps to herself in her quiet Ohio town. One day, she is asked by Maggie, a new teenager in town (Diana Silvers, Glass), to buy some booze for her and her friends. Sue Ann sees the chance to make some unsuspecting, if younger, friends of her own.

She offers the kids the chance to avoid drinking and driving by hanging out in the basement of her home. But there are some house rules:

One of the kids has to stay sober. Don’t curse. Never go upstairs. And call her “Ma.”

But Ma’s hospitality starts to curdle into obsession, what began as a teenage dream turns into a terrorizing nightmare. And Ma’s place goes from the best place in town to the worst place on earth.

The cast of MA

In addition to Octavia Spencer, the film also stars Juliette Lewis (August: Osage County) as Maggie’s mom and Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) as a local dad with Missi Pyle (Director’s Cut) as his girlfriend.

As Maggie’s friends, we have McKaley Miller (Hart of Dixie), Corey Fogelmanis (Girl Meets World), Gianni Paolo (Power) and Dante Brown (Lethal Weapon TV series).

In general, there are quite a few actors from previous Tate Taylor movies. Including the always brilliant Allison Janney who also starred in The Help.

The first trailer for the CHILD’S PLAY remake is here! The iconic doll horror movie offers a new version of the infamous Chucky doll. The movie will be out in theaters June 21, 2019. Watch the CHILD’S PLAY trailer right here!

The first trailer for the Child’s Play remake is finally here! This updated version of the story featuring the iconic Chucky doll is bound to have you curious. Whether you like reboots and remakes or not.

This time around, Chucky seems to be a more advanced toy, which is, of course, the perfect way to update the story. We’re talking AI elements and we all know these AI [Artificial Intelligence] creatures will be the end of us.

I mean, we first learned this in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey from 1968. And we should definitively have learned our lesson with James Cameron’s Terminator franchise!

The first Child’s Play 2019 trailer has everything you know and love from the original. Well, except for all the people who worked on the original movies.

The new Child’s Play cast and crew

The creator of the Child’s Play franchise, Don Mancini, is not involved in this remake. In fact, he has expressed his disinterest in it all together. Whether he’s fed up with it or don’t like the direction taken with the remake is unknown.

And the remake won’t include Child’s Play franchise alumni cast of Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, and Christine Elise.

However, this just leaves room for a fresh start. While I loved the old cast, a remake should include a new cast – though cameos from past films would be perfect.

The star of the 2019 Child’s Play remake is Aubrey Plaza as the mom. She has the perfect dark sense of humor and Aubrey Plaza seems like the ideal choice for this story. Her son (who is gifted the Chucky doll) is played by Gabriel Bateman, who horror fans will recognize from Lights Out (read our review of it here)

Norwegian director, Lars Klevberg is in charge of bringing Tyler Burton Smith’s script to life. This will be the first feature film released by Lars Klevberg, but he has actually made a feature film.

He directed Polaroid which we had on our “Horror Movies in 2017 We’re Looking Forward To”-list. The release date was originally August 25, 2017. However, it was pulled out of the release schedule and has been shelved ever since.

Polaroid should be out later this year – if the current IMDb information is correct.

Watch the first Child’s Play 2019 trailer below

While some things are different, others stay very much the same. The plot certainly sounds very familiar.

The official plot of Child’s Play (2019) is:

A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature

Today we got the new trailer for the Pet Sematary remake. That’s the second trailer out.

Based on the Stephen King horror novel, the remake stars Jason Clarke as Dr. Louis Creed. The story revolves around a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the Maine woods near the family’s new home.

Along with Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz and John Lithgow also star. Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer (Starry Eyes) directed the movie, which certainly makes us very optimistic.

This is the full synopsis for Pet Sematary (2019):

Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children Gage and Ellie move to a rural home where they are welcomed and enlightened about the eerie ‘Pet Sematary’ located near their house.

After the tragedy of their cat being killed by a truck, Louis resorts to burying it in the mysterious pet cemetery, which is definitely not as it seems. The Creeds will soon discover that sometimes, dead is better.

The christmas horror anthology is written and directed by David Ian McKendry and Rebekah McKendry.

All the Creatures Were Stirring will be released On Demand and Digital HD and DVD December 4, 2018.
